A model walking down the aisle at the Reem Acra Bridal Fall 2016 runway show carried a rhinestone-encrusted selfie stick in lieu of a traditional bouquet.
The self-obsessional shaft matched the glittering pair of headphones on the Millennial model’s head.
“(They) were a way for me to communicate a bride’s desire to tune out the rest of the world and simply have fun,” designer Acra told Vogue after her Bridal Fashion Week show stunt in New York last week.
But many brides and grooms on social media apparently took the designer seriously, posting their own “I don’t” in various forms on Tuesday.
“No, no, no, no, no. This walk is for cherishing the relationship with your Dad, who is giving you away, or anticipating being joined with your new husband. It is NOT about documenting yourself,” reader Michele Stapleton wrote on the designer’s Facebook page.
User Mariam Sid agreed. “The madness needs to stop,” she wrote. “I would divorce my wife if she walked on the aisle with a selfie stick!”
